If there’s one accessory that quietly saves the day — especially on those “hair, but make it functional” mornings — it’s the scrunchie.
Soft, gentle and a little bit nostalgic, scrunchies deserve their moment.
For me, they started as a small experiment:
“What if I could make something cute, comfortable and strong enough for real hair days?”
Today, I make two kinds that I love equally:
crochet scrunchies and fabric scrunchies, each with a different personality and purpose.
Crochet scrunchies — textured, soft & unexpectedly chic
Crochet scrunchies are all about texture.
I use different yarns and fibers to get those natural waves and soft curves.
Some are fluffy, some are smoother, some come in sets with scarves (perfect for winter).
They’re gentle on the hair and cute on the wrist — because yes, accessories should multitask.
And if your hair is sensitive or easily breaks, crochet is a little blessing.
The yarn doesn’t pull, snag or leave a mark.
Fabric scrunchies — lightweight, strong & designed for real-life hair
Fabric scrunchies are the workhorses — the ones that hold a ponytail through errands, school runs or “mom hair up, please” days.
I make them slightly longer than the usual store-bought ones.
Why?
Because heavier and thicker hair needs more fabric to hold without breaking or sliding.
They come in two sizes: XS + XL
— XS for thinner hair, kids or wrist styling
— XL for thick, curly, heavy or voluminous hair
Inside, there’s a strong elastic that lasts (because I personally hate when scrunchies loosen in a week).
Prints range from florals to denim to basics — depending on the season and mood.
Where (and how) to wear them
Everywhere.
At home. At the gym. On play dates. On your wrist instead of a bracelet.
Some accessories are just meant to live with you.
