I’m one of those women who like to have their bag ready for everything.
So ready, that my mother still teases me about it.
As long as I can remember, my bag never carried just a wallet and a phone. It carried everything. Literally.
At some point, I even had white and black thread with a needle inside — just in case something went wrong.
(And yes, I actually needed it once. Good thing I had it!)
Now imagine my bag after becoming a mom.
Exactly. 😄
When You Think You Need Everything.
Becoming a mom changes something inside you.
You want to be prepared for every possible situation.
What if they get hungry?
What if they get messy?
What if you need that one thing you didn’t bring?
So your bag slowly fills up with:
extra clothes (more than necessary)
toys (all the favorites, of course)
“just in case” items
things you don’t even remember putting in there
And at some point… your bag becomes heavy, messy, and exhausting.
What a Mom Really Needs in Her Bag
Over time, I realized something very simple:
you don’t need more things — you need better organization.
These are the essentials I actually use every day:
For the child
diapers & wipes
a small snack
one change of clothes (not three 🙃)
For me
a wallet or a small mini wallet
a small pouch or period pouch
a scrunchie (there’s always a reason)
Everything else?
If you rarely use it, it probably doesn’t need to be in your bag all the time.
Organization Is a Lifesaver
The biggest change came when I started using small pouches for specific things.
Not ten different organizers — just a few, chosen wisely.
everything has its place
no more panic-searching inside the bag
you find what you need in seconds
Since then, my bag is no longer chaos.
It’s ready — but not overloaded.
What You Can Leave Out
If you’re anything like me, try leaving out:
heavy items you never really use
“just in case” objects
things you carry every day but never need
A lighter bag means:
less stress
less physical strain
a calmer daily routine
In the End…
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be prepared.
What truly helps is finding the balance between readiness and simplicity.
I’m still the person who has solutions in her bag —
I just keep them more organized and more intentional now.
